Elsevier day at NUST MISiS

The National University of Science and Technology “MIS&S” held an annual Science Day event on Sept. 24, establishing a new type of scientific meeting on campus.
The main question was “How to Get Your Research Article Noticed”? More than one million scholarly articles are published every year. So it’s increasingly important for the researcher to find ways to make an article stand out.

Elsevier’s representatives showed the online and social media tools to promote research findings and publications to a wider audience of researchers. Also talked about company and it’s leading products including journals such as The Lancet and Cell, the ScienceDirect collection of electronic journals, the Trends and Current Opinion series of journals, and the online citation database Scopus.

Schedule included the following lectures and seminars:

  • World-class approach to Research management by Thomas Jorgensen, Product management director, Research management Elsevier.
  • Innovative research tools Engineering by Hesham Nassar, Senior Expert, Engineering Solutions.
  • Elsevier electronic resources to help young scientists by Andrew Locktev, Consultant for key information solutions Elsevier S&T in Russia, Belarus.
  • How to get noticed and published by Yana Kovalskaya, Marketing Director of Elsevier in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.

The speakers kindly shared their experiences. After the discussion, Timothy E. O’Connor, Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs at NUST MIS&S introduced the Academic Writing Center at the University and handed microphone to the representative, who gave a short presentation about the Academic Writing Center and it’s main activities.
