NATE-2019 CONFERENCE OUTCOMES

On April, 17-19 the Convention and English Language Expo of the National Association of teachers of English — NATE Russia — was held on the basis of ITMO (St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics). It brought together teachers from all over Russia, as well as well-known speakers from the USA and Europe.

The participants of the conference were welcome by the NATE President– Doctor of Philology S. G. Ter-Minasova, Vice President of the Association — Doctor of Philology M. A.Sternina, Coordinating Council Chairperson, PhD — N.V.Komissarova, Cultural Attaché of the U.S. Embassy in Moscow – Kelli Odhuu, Honorary expert of NATE – E. N. Lubnina.

CONFERENCE PROGRAMME

NATE-2019The conference summed up the results of NATE’s work during 25 years, reelected the Coordinating Council for a new 3-year term and outlined new plans for Association’s development.

The participants of the conference for 3 days plunged into a rich and interesting program, which included panel discussions, workshops, presentations, posters and work in interest groups.

NATE-2019The presentations covered a wide range of methodological issues: young learners and information technologies, academic writing and soft skills, distance and blended learning, inclusive learning and new teaching methods, as well as many other interesting issues.

One of the oldest Russian associations of teachers of English — SPELTA Association – also celebrated the 25th anniversary. Spelta celebrations, panel discussions and workshops were held in the rector’s building of Herzen Russian State Pedagogical University.
