Freer activities in class give learners a chance to practice speaking and gradually improve their fluency. But how can we do more than just give opportunities for speaking and actively develop learners’ speaking skills? In this talk, we will explore two possible approaches to this: by feeding in the language learners need for fluency and by working on the process of speaking itself, focusing on preparation, rehearsal and feedback to help develop fluency in a more focused way
