The Russian Academy of Sciences and The Russian Foundation for Basic Research, in cooperation with the Embassies of the United States of America, The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, will present a conference on “Scientific Publication: Where, Why, and How” at the Academy’s headquarters in Moscow May 25-26. On behalf of the organizing committee, we would be honored to have you attend this conference.
The conference’s purpose is to share knowledge of how to successfully publish articles in international and domestic journals so that researchers will better understand this vital aspect of their careers as scientists. Speakers at the conference include distinguished Russian and international researchers, publishers, and editors. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Marcia McNutt, President of the U.S. National Academies of Science and former Editor-in-Chief of Science magazine.

Editors’ Panel and Q&A: What Does It Take to Get a Paper Published in a Leading Journal
Panelists will discuss what they are looking for in papers they publish, common reasons why papers get rejected, and the publication process. Each speaker will speak for 5 min, and then the panel will take questions from the audience.

Publishers’ Panel and Editors’ Roundtable
Participants will exchange views of the issues of open access, subscription access, budgeting for publication costs, and other access issues. Participants will be invited to draft and publish a collective letter to readers and contributors outlining their response to most pressing issues in scientific publication.
