We’re excited to invite you to the (long-awaited, once postponed, and now finally happening!) Virtual International Symposium, ReVision & ReForm: Teaching Writing Across Borders hosted by the Expository Writing Program at New York University. The event is free and open to all.
The symposium will feature a keynote speech by Suresh Canagarajah from Penn State University, presentations by many writing teachers and researchers in the field, and even a brief creative writing workshop. Supported by NYU Abu Dhabi and the English Department at NYU, the event will foreground interdisciplinarity and cross-cultural collaborations in teaching writing. There will be panels on social justice, translingual pedagogies, play and experimentation in the writing classroom, and much more. One of the highlights of the conference will be an interactive student-led discussion on writing-related topics.
We will be meeting over two days: Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24. Pre-registration is required; please find registration links here and take a look at the full program with all the details here. We’d like to take advantage of the affordances of social media and of holding the conference on Zoom and reach as wide of an audience for the presentations as possible, so please help spread the word! If you’re on Twitter, follow us @NYU2020ReVision and retweet announcements #revisionandreform
We envision this conference as a chance to meet colleagues from other schools and departments and start exciting conversations that will hopefully continue long after the Zoom meeting. Hope to see many of you there!
