While reviewers are not primarily responsible for detecting plagiarism, fraud and other ethics issues, in practice they often pick them up. Jaap van Harten explains what you as a reviewer should do if you come across scientific misconduct and breach of publishing ethics. But also, as a reviewer, there are certain ‘rules’ you should adhere to when conducting a review.
